Aleksandra Wałaszek

Aleksandra Walaszek earned her MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Wroclaw, Poland with a major in mix media and a minor in graphic design. She was recipient of several international exchange scholarships such us: Hidden Places, Gorlitz (Germany), ESAD Strasbourg (France), MICA, Baltimore (USA), Galerie Rockelman, Berlin (Germany). Aleksandra Walaszek is a baby boomer, born in 1987 to a family of artists. She describes her childhood as a great social experience in the open air, where every story is being transformed into an image. Where the relation between the viewer and the surrounding is a chain reaction.

Walaszek tends to focus on subjects such as: identity, memory, history and the meaning of a place and space as well as the language. Her work has involved the creation of conceptually based objects, photography and installations as well as performances.
Being a foreigner has become a source of great inspiration to Walaszek, who describes herself as a “modern nomad”. She is constantly celebrating the mobility as a way of living, recently split between Los Angeles, Berlin and Wroclaw.
