Matt Sheridan’s “paintings-in-motion” re-imagine how the mediums of painting and video are combined through abstraction, movement, location, and re-materialization. His work addresses contemporary power relations between handmade physical reality, architecture and the click + drag mentality. Sheridan’s BFA is in Film + TV from New York University / Tisch School of the Arts and he earned his MFA in Graduate Art Studies from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Sheridan taught at NYU / TSOA’s Manhattan + Singapore campuses; School of Visual Arts and Pratt Institute in NYC, and exhibited internationally since while working for MTV, Nickelodeon, and the NBA. In 2014 Sheridan collaborated with recording artist Gala for the XXII Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia and installed a painting-in-motion in a group exhibition on France’s Cote d’Azur, courtesy La Napoule Art Foundation. Sheridan returned to Salvador da Bahia, Brazil to realize a painting-in-motion courtesy of Secretary of Culture, Bahia, presented at UFRB / Cachoeira, collaborated on another project, and live-mixed video in Salvador before contributing designs to the NYC conceptual fashion label American Qi. Sheridan is currently exhibiting in Brisbane, Australia upon arrival in Japan for Matsudo Paradise AIR. Matt Sheridan lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
