PARADISE HOUR: An open studio event featuring artists currently in residence at PARADISE AIR.
This event was held by four artists who were in residence in August 2025.

Lucia Jayo Altamirano, invited in collaboration* with the Department of Culture of the Province of Vizcaya in Spain’s Basque Country, presented an experimental installation created during her two-month stay in Japan. Visitors seemed fascinated by her explanations of works inspired by the linework of Japanese gekiga comics.

nessie, who studied environmental design at Chiba University Graduate School and works as a photographer, held a participatory workshop based on her ongoing Edo River-themed projects. She introduced past works related to the river and shared her recent challenge—paddling the Edo River by kayak—using the actual kayak and footage. She even shared landing points unknown to the PARADISE AIR staff.

Illustrator Antonio Uve exhibited illustrations created during his residency. His hallway display featured diverse works: illustrations of his favorite Japanese heroes, pieces using Japanese paper he experimented with this time, and a drawing corner for participants.

Musician Leon Keiditsch performed new songs created during his residency. He also recorded with participants. This recording will be used in his music video, scheduled for production after the residency concludes.
*As part of a provincial award program that supports the careers of emerging artists in Bizkaia, the prize includes an opportunity to create in Japan. Over the past five years, five award-winning artists have stayed at PARADISE AIR.
