Naoto Ogawa, a curator and art coordinator based in Sendai, conducted a lecture entitled, “On The Recorded Image.” Ogawa identified media as a definitive point of difference between the Great Kobe Earthquake of 1995 and the Great Tohoku Earthquake of 2011, focusing his argument upon the contemporary ability to watch recorded media online. Ogawa discussed the present role of mass media and the recorded image, while also identifying problematic issues born in our information age.
