Takahiro Yamamoto

Originally from Shizuoka, Japan, Takahiro Yamamoto is an artist based in Portland Oregon USA, working in dance, sculpture, and photography. For his current dance project, Direct Path to Detour, which seeks to evoke various mental/physical states that arise at the intersection of cultural phenomena and the personal experiences of four dancers, one live musician, and a dramaturge, all of whom have an intimate relationship with bridging multiple societies by birth, residence, upbringing and/or religion. Along with dramaturge/dancer Lu Yim and musician Jesse Mejía (both from Portland Oregon), Yamamoto will visit his home country Japan for further research into how social expectation and its environment could form the way we perceive who we are.
