Megumi Kobayashi

Curator at Fukushima Museum. Kobayashi examines Fukushima’s cultural resources with a focus upon fine and applied arts. She also researches the effectiveness and significance of cultural efforts to rediscover and reexamine regional resources. She is currently engaged in creating a space for students in Fukushima to participate in and learn from the prefecture’s traditional handicrafts. She has worked at Fukushima Museum since 1996. From 2010 to 2013, she managed a long-running festival which focused upon the artistic signifiance of laquer as a representative cultural resource in the city of Aizu.
