Marieke Peeters

Marieke Peeters is a visual artist based in Den Haag, The Netherlands. She creates immersive installations, sculptures, and films that combine intensive material research with performance. Adopting the art form of expanded cinema, she reuses cinematic and theatrical techniques – such as the 19th century theatrical tradition of the tableaux vivant – in her works. Informed by horror as a cinematic genre and construct, she facilitates immersive experiences that attempt to find comfort within the horrific.
