Maite Leyun

Her work takes ceramics as a starting point, developing it with a multidisciplinary character. In her practice, materials and forms are always linked to contemporary reality, without paying attention to the borders created between sculpture, installation, design, or performance. Currently, she tries to work with the context generating works that are capable of being the issue itself and the question at the same time.

She develops her work in arts since 2005. In 2017 she presented her doctoral thesis focused on ceramics and contemporary art at the University of Basque Country (UPV/EHU), where she currently works as a researcher and teacher. She has also participated in national and international exhibitions, attended different artistic residences in countries such as Taiwan or Hungary, and received different awards and grants.
