Some close European friends call me Mafu.
2) In a sentence, please describe a project or artwork that you have finished recently
Most recent work I completed was a series of casted grey glass which I made shapes with geometrical hole by 3D printing technique.
3) What do you want to do during your time in Matsudo?
I’m thinking of working with my travel drawings. Also I’m very much looking forward to meeting local artists and hoping to do some studio visits at their studio.
4) What is your favourite food?
Puhhh difficult question… I love wine so everything which goes well with good wine I can say 🙂
5) Please write a short message or comment to the people of Matsudo.
After spending 8 years abroad, I started to discover many attractive sides of Japan. I hope that I can share different experiences and have a great time with you!
Bio.
Mafune Gonjo was born 1984 in Japan. She moved to Sweden 2008 and took a Master Degree at
Konstfack (College of Arts, Crafts and Design) in Stockholm. After one year of project program at the Royal University of Fine Art 2010-2011, she started working as a freelance artist.
Mafune is based in Stockholm, exhibits and works in different cities all over the world; Stockholm, Paris, London and main cities in Japan and USA. She has a collection in the National Museum of Stockholm, Suwagarasunosato museum and the Museum of American Glass in New Jersey, USA.(portrait by P©K)
