KAN MIKA

Visual artist. Born in 1988 in Kanagawa Prefecture. Completed the doctoral program in the Department of Intermedia Art, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2021. In 2016, she attracted attention at the graduation exhibition with the work The Future Mother, a photographic work in which a love doll made to look like a pregnant woman was photographed to resemble maternity photos. By using the double-mediated image of a photograph of a doll, she disturbs the contrast between life and non-life, real and fake, past and future, and so on. Major solo exhibitions include shiseido art egg: Mika Kan exhibition: Imaginary Lie, Shiseido Gallery, Tokyo (2021) and BankART U35: Mika Kan Solo Exhibition, BankART KAIKO, Yokohama (2021). Awarded the Encouragement Prize at the VOCA 2020.
