Josh Faber-Hammond

Josh Faber-Hammond began studying koto with master Mitsuki Dazai in the summer of 2015, and after dedicated practice he started performing as part of Oregon Koto-Kai just a few months later. Since that time, he’s become a first-chair player in the group and he’s been fortunate to perform in ensembles with world famous koto virtuosos Kazue Sawai, Soju Nosaka, and Masayo Ishigure. Now, among his many current musical projects, he’s also studying to receive the highest level koto certification from the renowned Sawai Koto Institute based in Tokyo, Japan. His catalog of music encompasses a wide range of sounds, from improvisational electronic koto recordings to compositions for full koto ensemble.
