Hilla Toony Navok

Hilla Toony Navok’s work focuses on deciphering the abstract-formalistic origins and aesthetic codes of everyday surroundings: public spaces, domestic mass-produced home-decor and everyday commodities.

Design is a major reference in her work and a mean to address issues like cultural identity, representation of human body, taste and modernism. With a strong link to performance, Navok sees her works as performative sculptures and drawings.

In recent years Navok exhibited extensively in Israel and Europe. In addition she co-curated the 2009 Herzliya Biennial of Contemporary Art and was co-editor of the art magazine Picnic Magazine.
