Gabriele Muguruza (1992, Donostia-San Sebastián) lives and works in Bilbao, Basque Country.
Her work explores different ways of organising space. Through the dialogue between the disciplines of drawing and sculpture, her work generates resonances that connect with the surroundings. She is driven by the impulse to repeat forms and alter their arrangement to generate new compositions. She uses dichotomies such as clean-dirty, above-below, and full-empty to describe her work. As these are loaded pairs of words, she wants to explore each one in more depth and make them more personal.
