Evi Pangestu

Evi Pangestu is an Indonesian painter who investigates rebellion and control within the parameter of convention. She treats her work as a ground to mess and fix – each work is a possibility to negotiate and settle by shapes, lines, and sometimes colour. The equitable quality of the square is Evi’s fundamental measure of being in control.

Evi started her formal training in painting at Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta, then moved to the UK to finish her undergraduate degree at Birmingham School of Art. In 2019, she received an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London. Evi is currently based in London.
