Charlotte Hubert

Charlotte Hubert was born in Nantes, France, in 1984. She is currently based in Paris but works everywhere. After a Master’s degree in Plastic Arts and Art Theory (Sorbonne University), she decided to focus on plastic arts practice and got into l’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts de Paris Cergy followed by l’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts visuels de La Cambre in Brussels.

To date, her work has been shown in Paris, Tokyo, New-York, Nantes, Toulouse, Poitiers, Brussels (…), with the musician Sylvain Chauveau she performed in the 21st Century museum of Kanazawa, in Seika University (Kyoto), in Konya 2023 (Fukuoka) and in Gift_lab gallery (Tokyo). Actually she is also lecturer in Paris University of fine arts.

Her work is a mix of medium: video, photography, drawing, sculpture, performance, sound (…). The experience is always in to the center of her work. She plays on imagery and context and thus shapes an odd and incongruous world ruled by irony, the absurd, the burlesque and the more abstract notion of displacement.
While playing on the fine line between fiction and reality, she derisively and humorously suggests that her work is not only put into shape but is also a springboard to a world where incongruities and references to childhood coexist.

She loves to travel and since many years she is interested about Japanese culture. Her project in Air Paradise is to work about Ama san though the field recording, video and drawing.
