Arata Hasegawa is an independent curator, art critic, and researcher renowned for his multifaceted contributions to the arts and scholarly discourse. His current focus revolves around reevaluating the impact of Vietnam war on social movements and the arts. A series of articles on reconstructing ‘Japanese’ postwar art are featured in Tokyo Art Beat and to be published. His co-translation project of ‘Art Workers: Radical Practice in the Vietnam War (Film Art)’ authored by Professor Julia Bryan-Wilson is published in 2024. His curatorial practice exemplifies a fusion of his research interests and an astute exploration of how the political climate resonates within artistic expressions. He had realized the projects including “Chronicle, Chronicle!” (2016-2017), “Impurity / Immunity” (2017-2018), “STAYTUNE/D” (2019), “GRAND REVERSE” (2019-), “Halfway Happy” (2020-2021), “SEASON2″ (2023), and “Overland_Spillover#1”(2024). He holds diverse roles, serving as a guest curator for PARADISE AIR, a Collaborative Researcher at the National Museum of Ethnography(-2024), and an official appraiser for the esteemed Architectural Institute of Japan(-2024).
