[Talk]Think about Artist in Residence｜Japan

“Think about Artist in Residence” is a series of debriefings in which PARADISE AIR staff share their experiences from symposia and visits they have attended. Information sharing among staff is carried out as a public event to keep them up-to-date with the latest information on AIR around the world and to create a forum for interaction with people interested in AIR.

On 10th October in Kyoto, two members from PARADISE AIR participated in the ‘Artists-in-Residence Programme Evaluation Exchange Meeting’, which was held to bring together artists-in-residence operators from across Japan who are working under the auspices of the Agency for Cultural Affairs to share issues and deepen discussions on the results and evaluation of their activities.

PARADISE AIR has been selected for this year’s Agency for Cultural Affairs grant “Program to Create International Base for the Promotion of Arts and Culture (Support for Artists in Residence)”.
This event was not only a report on the exchange but also an opportunity to reflect on our own activities as parties involved in running the artist-in-residence, in light of the decision not to subsidise the Aichi Triennale 2019.
