Akiko Sasaki

Born in Hyogo Prefecture. Editorial staff of d design travel. Akiko has been a member of the editorial department of d design travel—a travel guide for the 47 prefectures of Japan, published by D&DEPARTMENT, under the theme of “long life design” (long-lasting design that will continue to be loved regardless of the times or trends.)—since the third issue. While bringing her favorite small-wheel bicycle, she spends an average of two months in the featured prefecture to work on the issue. The base for the 23rd issue of the Chiba edition (scheduled for publication in March 2018) is PARADISE AIR in Matsudo City.

Open-minded and free. The “pioneering spirit” inherited in Chiba.
Boso, a place cultivated by migrants who came across the sea. A modern city on the shores of Tokyo Bay that has generously embraced nature and people, and at the same time, developed along with civilization. In Chiba Prefecture, there is “diversity” that warmly watches over them. The free and abundant creativity that can be called the “pioneering spirit” that has been handed down from ancient times—that is the “Chiba -ness.”
