Klaudia Ofwona Draber
2025.09

At PARADISE AIR, our staff members always share what they have seen, heard, and experienced after visiting other artist-in-residencies and art institutions.
To make these reports open to everyone beyond our staff, we launched the event series “From Artist-in-Residencies Around the World.”
This time, we focus on New York. Our guest is Klaudia Ofwona Draber, curator, strategy consultant, and founder of the social practice residency KODA.
Based in New York, KODA runs programs dedicated to mid-career artists, supporting those who engage with urgent social issues such as justice and the environment. With KODA House on Governors Island as its base, the residency provides comprehensive support ranging from research and production to public presentation, and its activities have gained international recognition.
Klaudia herself has extensive experience across art, society, and business: she was a Helena Rubinstein Fellow at the Whitney Museum’s Independent Study Program (Curatorial Studies), a faculty member at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, and a consultant for both UBS’s art CSR initiatives and British Council Arts. She currently serves as a board member of ArtTable and as a mentor at NEW INC.
In this session, Klaudia will share the background of founding KODA, the reality of its ongoing work, and her thoughts on connecting art and society through social practice. It will be an inspiring opportunity for those interested in applying to residencies abroad as well as those curious about how art can engage with social issues.
