Giulia Lomuscio
2024.10

“PARADISE HOUR” is an open-studio event to open the artists-in-residence program at PARADISE AIR.
Giulia Lomuscio and Giuseppe Micciché, who stayed in Matsudo in October 2024 under PARADISE AIR’s short stay program. Both artists held an open studio “PARADISE HOUR” at Kitemitetnari.
During her stay, Giulia researched the Japanese techno scene and energetically traveled around Japan to conduct interviews and filming. The staff could not help but respect her quantity of research, proactivity, and negotiation skills. The concept of the show was also connected to her activities during her stay in Japan, and we screened a video work she had produced in Berlin in the past and introduced it along with her photographs.
Meanwhile, Giuseppe has been researching the region’s connection to the sea and fishing since 2015. In addition to the photos of the former Tsukiji Market that he researched and photographed in the past, the exhibition included new photos taken at markets in the Kanto suburbs and in various locations in Matsudo. In addition, the exhibition also includes his photo book NO PONTE (No Bridge), which was published in 2023. In Sicily, Italy, where he has his roots, the pros and cons of a suspension bridge connecting the island and the Italian mainland have been a source of controversy for many years. The book attracted the interest of visitors with its many photographs of the island’s coastline, which are related to the “bridge” that does not exist on maps but has a great impact on people’s hearts and minds.
The exhibition at キテミテトナリKITE MITE TONARI, the venue of the “Matsudo International Science Art Festival” organized by Matsudo City, was also open to the public, attracting many visitors each day.
