*At 6 pm on both Friday and Saturday, there will be guided tours by the residency coordinators.

PARADISE AIR is an artist-in-residence program located in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture. The program offers a space for artists from Japan and abroad to stay and create art on the vacant floors of a former hotel and current pachinko parlor in front of Matsudo Station.

It has been ten years since we welcomed the inaugural artist-in-residence in 2013. In celebration of our tenth anniversary, an archive book POWERS OF TEN introduces PARADISE AIR’s activities using 10 keywords. Furthermore, for the first time, we will be holding a photography exhibition outside of Japan. Hosted at a café in Taipei, Taiwan, this exhibition will showcase the activities of our artist-in-residence program in Japan. The coordinators who have managed the residence will be at the venue, ready to welcome you. Let’s enjoy some coffee and engage in conversation together!

An artist-in-residence’s day-to-day is mostly a collection of the trivialities of life and creation, with a smattering of spectacular moments. But that is what makes the experience valuable and worth continuing. We hope that through this event, we can give everyone in Taiwan and those attending the Res Artis Conference 2024 a glimpse into what we have accomplished, realized, and remembered through managing the PARADISE AIR artist-in-residence program and the various projects that have emerged from it.
