Chapter 1: Into the Subconscious｜Sophy

Taiwanese artist Sophy has held a one-night exhibition of installation works at PARADISE AIR.

Inspired by the mysterious world she saw in her dreams, Sophy has been exploring the subconscious of the human mind by creating drawings with a unique touch. It was her first experience joining an artist residency program, and it seemed to bring a lot of inspiration. She installed drawings and illustration works energetically created during her residency in Matsudo, utilizing three rooms of PARADISE AIR. It’s our pleasure to hold this exhibition since PARADISE AIR is a former hotel, it’s a perfect place to present a unique, undefined, peculiar atmosphere in dreaming. The audience enjoyed a mysterious night by entering into the dream world, and shared their own dream experiences with the artist.

Artist’s Message

Currently making a long-length work, the story is about the adventure of telling dreams changing the perspective and mentality of looking at the world. How the world of reality and the world in dreams are separated and connected in the same time.
The works not only recorded dreams’ creativity also includes humorous dialogue brings out conceptual perspectives on consciousness and existence. Many answers can to be found in our subconscious, this work to present insights from the dream world, hoping to resonate with audiences to explore and connect inner self.
