[Exhibition] My Japan｜Leeay Aikawa

These work express a derivation of our perspectives on our environments over time, and the mutation of what we know to be familiar and neglected. After shooting various photos of Matsudo and around Tokyo, Aikawa reconfigured her photography into a compilation of new compositions. Living in Canada after leaving Japan at the age of 21, much of her subject matter illustrates scenes that are otherwise overlooked by locals, but are collections of nostalgia, which remind her why Japan is both beautiful and bizarre.
