Dear Friend,

As you know, I’ve been working on our Salaryman documentary for over a year now.

In that time we’ve been twice to Tokyo for a total of 4 months, interviewed over 50 people, and managed to edit an amazing 30 minute rough cut, all with our personal efforts and funding.

Its been a remarkable test on every front, but we are happy and very proud of where we’ve gotten to so far. Working in a foreign environment, with limited funds to boot has been incredibly challenging and a great experience, but our work is not done yet! We are now finally ready to edit the last stretch of our documentary.

I am writing to you because we are now about to launch our crowdfunding campaign through a platform called Indiegogo. In case you are not familiar with this, Crowdfunding is a method of raising capital through the collective effort of friends, family, customers, and individual investors. In other words, it is an online platform that is used to raise the money we need to finish our film!
We have overcome tremendous efforts both monetary and otherwise to get to where we are, but we have now reached the point where we need to ask for your support.

Asking for money is a humbling experience, and this email is in no way aimed at placing you in a compromising position. The beauty of crowdfunding is that you decide how you would like to collaborate with us, as you are free to choose how much you wish, if anything, you to contribute. You may even choose to donate anonymously!

As a thank you for your contributions, you will receive a perk (or gift) corresponding to the amount donated. Our perks range from digital copies of our film, to T-shirts and limited edition photographic prints shot by your’s truly during our filming of Salaryman.
