About the exhibition
With this exhibition I try to approach abstraction through photography. This can be an useless aim for photography, that is usually an art used for representation but I think that both basque and japanese soul and understanding of art is very close and linked through a very similar understanding of the void. The exhibition consists in 2 pieces made in the Basque Country and in Japan. The basque piece remarks the 2 dimensions of photography through a geometric combination of lines, squares and the poetic dance of a dot in a yellow and white space. The japanese piece wants to question the 2 dimensions of photography. Can a photograph be tridimensional? It seems that this 4 photographs have captured the sphere, lines and squares of the first piece and transformed into volumetrical shapes itself. This exhibition tries to propose an encounter between the basque rhythm and the japanese pure shape. (Jon Cazenave)
