愛人(Aijin)｜Li, Wen Hao

The title of the work 愛人(Aijin, which means “mistress”) derives from the famous song by 鄧麗君 (Teresa Teng).

Artist LI, WEN HAO’s works and research pay attention to nostalgic pop music in Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong and Indonesia and its international circulation across Asia. In the residency of PARADISE AIR, he proposes to re-visit Teresa Teng’s classic Japanese music in the context of Taiwan under the martial law period. Under martial laws, Teng’s Japanese works in Taiwan were not only forbidden because of language but also because her works often included immoral relationships.
“愛人(Aijin)” is to sing and to tell the untold stories of the legendary diva.
